Dr. Shah & Dr. Patel Share How NOUVADerm™ Supports Laxity, Melasma, and Lip Lines

In the video below, Dr. Mamta Shah and Dr. Tejas Patel discuss how they use the NOUVADerm™ laser across a range of applications in their practice — from pre- and post-surgical skin prep to stubborn melasma and perioral lip lines.

Dr. Shah: “We use NOUVADerm™ for a plethora of reasons in our practice. But in Long Island, where I practice, I have a lot of Fitzpatrick skin type one, just crepey skin, patients that haven’t really used any great or potent energy-based devices. And so I’m really, really using these types of NOUVADerm™ treatments pre-surgery for a lot of my patients, as well as post-surgery. So trying to address lower face laxity, lower eyelid crepey skin, without having to jump to a blepharoplasty or upper eyelid tightening procedure that’s surgical. This has been where the NOUVADerm™ is really positioned in my practice.”

Dr. Patel: “One of the best uses for NOUVADerm™ is there’s really nothing on the market for melasma. A lot of my patients, we’ve seen really miraculous results by using pre-treatment with tranexamic acid and then using the NOUVADerm™ to get the pigment out. And though it’s not a cure, it really just works better than anything else that we’ve had. I think anyone that works in aesthetics has used chemical peels and whatnot, and they just don’t do anywhere near the amount of significant change that NOUVADerm™ does. And those patients are just so much happier because they just haven’t had anything on the market that’s worked for them. So really great results with it.”

Dr. Shah: “So NOUVADerm™ used for the upper lips and lower lips, let’s call it the barcode area. We’ve had a tremendously great experience. Prior to NOUVADerm™, the only other thing that we were able to position for this area was Cosmodic, and it gave an extremely wonderful result. But we would be using two to three treatments that were spaced out over maybe two or three months. With NOUVADerm™, a high energy setting where we’re stacking treatments, you can really knock out those lines in one treatment.”
